10 Ways to Switch Up Your Wig For Summer
Summer is right around the corner everyone body is in the gym trying to get the perfect summer body.
But I am over here worrying about how I'm going to do my hair for the summer, and I know I am not the only one.
Summer is just when everything comes alive you can finally start wearing super cute fits, and everybody is trying to give their look a 180.
You might be thinking 'oh, I need to get a new glueless lace wig because my winter hair won't cut it for the summer'.
The great thing is that you don’t have to spend a whole lot of money. So put the wallet down sis because there are many ways you can make your regular wig summer ready.
Here are ways to switch up your wig, so you look popping all summer. With hair, there are endless ways you can switch it up to get a whole new look.
But if you are one of those people who like to stay up to the trends you know that winter and summer hairstyles are not one in the same.
Cut Your Wig
Cut it cut it. It's almost summertime you need to cut it! This is one of the easiest ways to switch up your hair and the quickest.
But the only thing is you need to make sure that you are 100% sure about cutting your wig because that hair will not grow back.
However, I would recommend visiting a professional if you are afraid of messing up.
But at least watch a couple of YouTube videos before going in with the scissors because this gives you ideas on how short you might want wat it and the best techniques that will have your hair looking the best.
But if you are a bit afraid to cut your wig, you can always do a fake cut where you fold your hair over to make it appear longer.
This method is a great idea because you do not have to commit to the shorter length.
Shorter hair is perfect for summer because it's hot and it's nice not to have the hair sticking all over your body.
Quick tip: Also when cutting your wig make sure to cut it a little longer than you want so you can go back and fix it up it is always better to have too much hair than too little.
Color The Wig
Summer is the perfect time to try a new color.
Everyone usually tries to lighten, but this is the perfect time to take a risk and dye your hair a wild color like pink or purple.
There are so many options when it comes to color but make sure you are extremely careful when dying the hair, so you don't fry your wig.
If you do choose to bleach your hair make sure you're not leaving the developer for too long because this can fry your beautiful wig.
Key to a DIY blonde hair is to use purple hair to neutralize the color of the blond.
The neutralizer gives your hair that natural blonde look instead of a weird brassy yellow, but if you are going for the brassy look, you do your thing.
If you don’t want to change much when it comes to color you can always do an ombre look with your hair.
If you have not done ombre on a wig before I recommend that you practice on a wig you do not care about first or have a professional dye the hair.
This technique is a little more difficult because you are not just evenly spreading one color all over your head it is much more difficult for beginners to get the gradient hair they are looking to achieve.
Quick tip: If you are dying your hair yourself and are a bit skeptical practice on a small weft of hair to make sure its the color you want your hair to be.
Add Color Highlights
This switch is perfect for when you don't want a completely new look but want to lighten up a little.
Highlights can also make it look as though your hair is sun kissed which makes it perfect for the summer time.
They just give your hair that extra umph that was missing during the winter.
We have dozens of professionally colored wigs at Private Label. If you are looking for a highlight wig don't forget to check our Glueless Wigs Collection.
Honestly, I would highly recommend that you not highlight your wig yourself unless you have had a ton of practice because this could go off the rails very quickly.
Curl Your Wig
Summer is the perfect time for a curly hair wig because it’s a fun new change which is summer.
Everybody wants to achieve those beautiful beach waves and springy curls.
They are also so many methods and looks when it comes to curls and waves.
You can braid your wig and then flat iron the braid for some tight waves.
You can use a wand or curling iron for neat uniform braids as well.
The techniques are endless it just depends on what you want to do with your hair.
Quick tip: Don’t forget to use a heat protectant when using a heated tool on your wig even though the hair is not growing from your head it can still get heat damage.
Straighten Your Wig
Curly hair seems to be the thing for summer, but there’s nothing wrong with going with some bone straight hair.
This switch is one of the easiest things you can do to switch up your hair.
Add Braids To Your Wig
You can go for a super cute boho chic look with a couple of braids in your hair.
This style is perfect for someone who doesn't want a permanent change but wants to spice their hair up a little bit.
You can also just put all your hair into a cute ponytail braid or fishtail. You can also do the braid to give it that messy boho look by adding braiding hair.
Accessorize
You can bring back those feather things people used to wear back in the day. Accessories are a thing that is in year round but look so much better in the summer.
You can give off Coachella vibes with a flower wreath or some rings in your hair. The best part is that these are easily removable and the options are endless.
You can even throw some braids in your hair and add a few cuffs or some ribbon. And when you get tired of them, you can just take them off and rock your style by itself.
Try Wet Looks
Get the "I just got out of the pool look without having to go near the water" look. I love wet looks!
They are extremely versatile and look good for almost any occasion, and they are perfect for the summertime.
This look is best for wigs that are a loose wave or deep wave. This look is also super easy to achieve.
All you need is some moose and your hands. There are also several helpful YouTube videos that will teach you how to achieve this style easily.
Get Glossed
Getting a gloss is the best way to spice up a wig that might be looking a little dull.
And if you don’t know what a gloss is you have come to the right place.
A gloss, also known as a glaze, is a treatment that brings your hair back to life.
Even though this method sounds fancy, you can get a kit and complete this at home to have your strands looking sun-kissed all summer.
Get a New Wig
You can just throw out your winter wig and just get a new wig.
Private Label has hundreds of human hair wig options available.
Some people don’t want to spend the time or effort that comes with reviving your wig so you can just buy a new one that already comes how you want it.
With that, I would recommend what I would call a “summer friendly” wig. This wig could have some blondes or lighter colors in it.
