Top 3 Crochet Hairstyles You Can Rock Anytime
Anyone who knows me knows that crochet styles are my go-to look all year round.
However, when I first started wearing these styles, it was in the summertime. Before wearing my current look, I would wear a braid or my natural hair.
When the summer came, I thought that I would rock a natural style with my natural hair, but the heat proved to be too much for my hair.
I found that I regularly had to wash my hair with too much sweat and restyle it every few days.
My twist-outs and braid-outs were not cutting it! So, instead of going through the entire summer and having to mess with my hair every few days, I decided to get crotchet braids. ✨
They were the best thing for me because I could protect my hair bundles while also wearing an adorable style.
The fantastic thing about this style is that they are incredibly versatile. There are so many different looks you can achieve with crotchet hair.
I have three favorite hairstyles that can be created using crochet hair. Let’s get into them!
First, Why Crochet Hair?
Crochet hair has become increasingly popular throughout the past two years.
It’s been around for quite some time, but it’s just now become a fantastic hair product that people love to use, especially hairstylists and bloggers.
Crochet hair is a great way to have an awesome hairstyle without breaking the bank or ruining our hair.
My experience with crotchet hair has been phenomenal because I don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to have a hairstyle that I like. Crochet packs range from $4-7 and usually won’t exceed $100 for about 8-10 boxes.
Crochet hair is typically made from synthetic hair and can’t be styled.
The advantage of this is that there’s not much maintenance when it comes to crochet hair. Installation takes about four hours, from the time you wash your hair and braid it down to the time that it takes to put the hair in.
Crochet hair does need to be taken out every 4-6 weeks and can’t be reused. However, despite that, it’s still a better option. It’s quick, easy, and cost-effective. Crochet styles are a great way to kick off your summer!
Top Three Crochet Styles
As mentioned before, crochet hair is very versatile.
There are so many different ways to style and create amazing looks with crotchet hair. However, there are three styles that I want to highlight because they are the three most common and most versatile.
The three styles are curly hair, twists or braids, and kinky straight hair.
These three styles can be styled differently, and all you need is some excellent crochet hair. I’ve tried every hairstyle possible when it comes to crochet.
Another great thing about each of these hairstyles is that they can be done with or without color and without all the unnecessary mess. Let’s get into these bomb crochet types!
Curly Crochet
My go-to crotchet style is curly.
I love curly hair because it’s versatile and fun. When I first tried the curly crochet style, I never wanted to go back because it looked so cute.
The curly crochet style can be done with a variety of crochet hair types.
The current crochet hair that I wear is called “Cuevena Bounce,” and it is made by Xpressions.
This hair type is similar to Jamaican Bounce, made by Sensationnel, which is another curly texture that people use for their crochet hair.
Another type you can use for curly hair is the Freetress “Baby Wand” Curl. Any of these textures can give you big curly hair.
The key to having big curly hair is the installation method and then the cutting method.
For example, when I install my hair, I put in as much hair as possible. When I’m styling, I cut and tease it to make it look as big and bold as possible.
Twists, Braids, or Faux Locs with Crochet
These styles are pretty simple but amazing because you can get the braids without the hassle.
Anyone who has worn braids knows how long they can take to install and remove.
By taking advantage of this style, you can skip all that and get straight to styling.
There’s not much styling that needs to be done when it comes to braids and twists. Just install them, and you’re good to go.
There are usually plenty of colors for you to choose from as well.
Also, if you’ve ever wondered what you’ll look like with locs, then crochet braids are a great way to find out! Install some faux locs, and see if you love them. If you don’t enjoy them, you can quickly take them out.
Kinky Straight Crochet Hair
Kinky straight hair is one of my favorite styles because it looks so realistic.
Kinky straight styles have become increasingly popular. Having this style gives you an untamed, teased look that looks amazing in the summertime!
Kinky straight hair can be styled in a variety of ways.
Usually, kinky straight hair can take minimal heat. If you need to straighten it a little more, you can. Don’t be afraid to have fun with a kinky straight style because there are so many different styles that can be created.
For example, one of my favorite ways to style this hair is to put it in a half-up, half-down ponytail.
The installation method you choose will be critical when it comes to this type of crochet hair. Also, the way you cut and tease it will be important as well.
When installing this hair, use the invisible method. It’ll help when you want to wear your crochet in a particular style.
Make Sure to Have Fun!
Crochet hair for summer is the best route for me because this kind of hair is versatile, inexpensive, and fun!
Whenever I try a new style, I have tons of fun and remember that I can switch it up whenever I like.
Also, when I don’t feel like installing the hair directly into my hair, I make a crochet wig. These kinds of wigs are a great way to rock your favorite style this summer. 🌞
Remember that these hairstyles don’t last as long as human hair extensions. However, despite that, it doesn’t require much maintenance.
Don’t be afraid to try out colors or styles that you haven’t before.
This type of hair is an effective way to see if you would look good with a particular hairstyle or not. Try everything until you find something you love!
