Are you in pursuit of hair bundle perfection?
After being in the hair industry for the past decade, I can tell you it's a never-ending journey.
With over 100,000 customers at Private Label, I have learned that there are still many misconceptions about what human hair bundles are best for each individual.
The biggest issue is that there is so much misinformation and unanswered questions about virgin hair, raw hair, remy hair, 8A, 9A, and other terms that hair vendors throw around. ❌
This is probably why we are here on the Private Label hair blog: to discover the truth about human hair extensions. You want to learn from the experts.
I personally spend a month a year in China working directly with our hair manufacturing partners to ensure the best innovations are happening for Private Label products.
How Am I Finding Questions about Human Hair Bundles?
No, I am not making up what people are asking! While writing this, I use a few features of Google's search engine to find the most commonly asked questions. I also use a tool that helps extract other questions related to a search topic.
I will do my best to give you the best information using my experience in the hair industry. Let's get into these questions and answers about human hair bundles!
What Is the Best Hair Type for Bundles?
Raw hair is the best type of hair available for human hair bundles.
The cuticle is intact and facing the same direction, and the hair has not been previously colored or processed.
Some of the best human hair for bundles is sourced from the Temples of India, the Countryside of Vietnam, the mountainous regions of China, and areas of Europe.
What Is the Best Grade for Human Hair Bundles?
You might search the internet and find someone who says 10A is the best grade of hair. The "A Grading System" is nothing more than marketing and was created by Chinese suppliers around 2010.
When I first started in the hair industry in 2013, the top-level quality hair was a 5A grade. It seems that hair manufacturers add an additional "A" every year to one-up each other and trick the consumer into thinking that a new type of hair has come out.
Raw hair is the best grade of hair and always will be. The key is to find the best source of raw hair for your human hair bundles. Based on your use case, some raw hair will be better than others.
If you want naturally wavy bundles, you might choose the Raw Wavy Indian Hair.
This hair has not been steamed into the pattern, as it's natural from the donor. The color is 1B (natural black)—2 (dark brown). Are you looking for a bone-straight hair bundle, usually a dark 1B? You would choose the Vietnamese Straight Bundles.

How Long Do Human Hair Bundles Last?
A few factors determine how long human hair bundles last. Our article, "The Longevity of Virgin Hair Bundles: How Long Do They Last?" dives deeply into this subject, but we will summarize a few factors here.
We have many clients who have used our raw hair bundles for multiple installs, and they have lasted two-plus years.
To get the most out of them, it's all about your haircare routine. Based on their use, most virgin hair bundles last six months to one year.
Straight hair bundles tend to last longer than curly bundles because curly hair naturally sheds more than straight hair.
If you are doing a quick weave hairstyle, the hair probably won't last more than the initial install unless you spend enough time cleaning the glue off after removing the hair from the initial install.
We recommend using a lower-cost bundle for quick weaves, as cutting the wefts of the hair will quickly diminish the longevity.
Is Grade 12A Hair Better than 10A?
Yes and No, depending on the hair vendor. You can't compare a bundle called "12A" from one vendor to another, as hair suppliers use no real A grading system scale.
If a hair vendor offers a 12A human hair bundle and a 10A human hair bundle, you could assume the 12A bundle offered is better quality.
It would also be more expensive. The raw material should be higher quality, with fewer short hairs and a consistent finished weight.
Should You Wash Hair Bundles?
Yes. You should always consider the hygiene of your natural hair and human hair bundles. Wash your hair extensions with a sulfate-free shampoo.
Keeping your bundles clean will ensure their longevity, shine, and style.
Are 3 Bundles of Hair Enough?
Yes, three bundles of human hair are enough for most sew-ins and wigs when using lengths 24" and under.
You will need four bundles for most hairstyles 26" and up but only need two bundles if wearing a bob with lengths around 12".
Is One Bundle Enough for a Ponytail?
We generally recommend two bundles for a ponytail, but it also depends on the length.
A shorter-length ponytail could use one bundle, and it would look great. When you are wearing lengths 20" and up, we recommend using a second bundle or making your life easier by purchasing a ponytail extension.
Can Two Bundles Do a Full Head?
Yes, two bundles of human hair can do a full head using lengths up to 14".
You will need three to four bundles if you want a longer hairstyle.
How Much Hair Is in One Bundle?
One bundle usually weighs around 100 grams, which is the standard weight for most bundles.
Occasionally, you could find special bundles like the ones in the Redefined Collection that weigh 250 grams or more because their lengths are 45" and up.
What Grade Is 100% Human Hair?
We would like to classify two types of human hair: virgin hair and raw hair. Virgin Hair has aligned its cuticles during manufacturing to help reduce tangling. Raw Hair is in its natural state with full cuticles.
Many different factors can determine the quality of human hair, including the weight of the bundles, the ratio of short hairs, whether it has been pre-colored, and its origin.
Can You Reuse Human Hair Bundles?
Yes, when properly cared for, you should be able to reuse human hair bundles multiple times.
This will be difficult when doing a quick weave but attainable when doing sew-ins with the hair.
Is Remy Hair Real Human Hair?
If properly using the term, yes, remy hair is real human hair. Remy hair refers to the hair's cuticles being aligned in the same direction.
The cuticles on human hair face down, reducing the chances of tangling. Some companies will use the term "Remy Hair" as a brand name instead of the scientific definition.
Is 100g of Hair Enough for a Full Head?
No, 100 grams of hair is equal to one bundle. You will need two to four hair bundles for a full head sew-in.
Who Sells the Longest Hair Bundles?
Private Label is known for selling some of the longest human hair bundles on the planet.
Our Redefined collection has lengths up to 60", and our private collection has the longest bundle at 85".
