What Is a 5x5 Lace Closure

What Is a 5x5 Lace Closure, and What Are Its Benefits?

Mikey Moran

For you to be truly mesmerized by the 5x5 lace closure, I’d like you to remember when we sowed our weave directly to our hair naturally— including the closure part, without shame.

Now that you appreciate lace closures even more, what’s your favorite closure?

Mine is the 5x5 Lace Closure; I like how it lays flat on the head and gives a natural-looking hairline that you can style or lay your edges without the stress of glue or tape.

As the name implies, a 5x5 closure is a lace closure that covers 5 inches across your forehead and 5 inches to the back.

Let's navigate them!😍

The Benefits of a 5x5 Lace Closure

Now, why should you be excited about a 5 by 5 lace closure?

1. Natural Look: The 5*5 closure is on top of its game regarding offering realism. The hairline it gives looks like what your mama gave you, and this seamless blending with your hairline, forehead, and entire face is what it is for me every time.

2. Style Versatility: You don’t have to be stuck with a center parting. With a 5*5 lace closure, you can part your hair in multiple ways, allowing you to switch up your look without the commitment of a full lace wig.

3. Protective Style: Because you can wear your 5x5 closure without heat styling and glue application, you won’t have to search for creams to restore your natural hairline constantly.

What Is the Difference between 4x4 and 5x5 Closures?

Good question! A 4x4 closure measures 4 inches by 4 inches, making it my second-best closure, although it gives you a smaller coverage area than the 5*5.

The 5 by 5 offers more room to play with, providing a more expansive parting space and more styling options.

There are even 6x6 lace closures, and you know what that means: more playing ground coverage for styling. It also means a bit more maintenance and potentially a higher cost.

What Does a 5x5 Closure Look Like?

It is 5*5, which means 5 inches. If you want to get an exact size, take a measuring tape and draw a square box with 5 inches on all sides.

It’s designed to mimic your scalp and give the illusion of natural hair growth. When installed correctly, it’s virtually undetectable.

How Do I Choose a Lace Closure?

When you want to choose a lace closure, you need to consider the size, which could be 4x4, 5x5, or 6x6. Keep in mind that the bigger it is, the more expensive it will be, though they give slightly similar results.

Also very important to consider is the type of lace closure: there are transparent lace closures and HD lace closures.

What Are the Different Sizes of Closures?

Even though I praise the 5*5 lace closure, other closures, like 2x6 closure wigs along with 4x4, 5x5, and 6x6, fit your style and pocket.

What Is the Difference Between 2x6 and 5x5 Closure?

A 2x6 closure is narrower but longer and is ideal for wigs like Bob Wigs because of the sleek center parting space it offers.

Your Bobs look the best with the center part, while a 5x5 closure coverage offers a wider area, allowing for more styling flexibility.

Is a 5x5 Closure Glueless?

Yes, the selling point of 5x5 closures is that they can be worn as a glueless wigs.

This is why it’s perfect for those who want to avoid the mess or potential damage of lace frontal glues.

How Many Bundles Do You Need with a 5x5 Closure?

Typically, 2 to 3 hair bundles will do the trick with a 5x5 closure.

This gives you a complete, voluminous look without being too heavy or overwhelming.

Which Type of Closure Is the Best?

The “best” closure depends on your needs. For the most natural look, go for HD lace.

A standard lace closure might be your best bet if you need durability and cost-effectiveness.

HD lace closures are the reigning champs for a natural look.

They are super thin and blend seamlessly with your scalp, making the lace virtually invisible.

Do Lace Closures Damage Hair?

Not if installed and cared for correctly.

They can protect your natural hair by reducing exposure to heat and styling products.

How to Make Lace Closure Look Natural?

Using your foundation or edge control of the same color to line the lace is a foolproof way of achieving a natural-looking closure.

You can also choose to bleach the knots; this helps to hide the tiny knots where the hair is tied to the lace. People also pluck out the hairline to create a less dense hairline and a more realistic look.

Can You Sew In a Lace Closure?

Absolutely!

Lace closures are designed to be sewn in, giving you a secure and natural-looking finish.

What’s the Difference between a Closure and a Lace Closure?

Closures can be made of different materials, but lace closures specifically refer to closures made from lace. The 5x5 lace is not your secret weapon for flawless, natural-looking hair.
