Top 6x6 Lace Closure FAQs and Answers
You have questions—we’ve got answers.
Let’s examine the most frequently asked questions regarding 6x6 lace closures and their answers. We want to ensure you are making an educated purchasing decision when choose this size lace.
Is there a 6x6 Closure?
But of course! A 6x6 lace closure may not be as well known but it's an option when choosing a lace product to finish off your sew-in or wig.
This is because they’re not as popular or common as other options, such as the famous 4x4 closures or even a 5x5 lace. However, the 6x6 closure is accurate, and they’re fantastic.
(Did anybody get the “Seinfeld” reference?)
What Is the Difference Between 4x4 and 6x6 Lace Closures?
The difference between a 4x4 and 6x6 lace closure is the size. As the name suggests, the 6x6 is larger than the 4x4.
It measures six inches long and six inches wide, compared to four inches long and four inches wide for the 4x4. Because the 6x6 is more extensive, it provides more styling capabilities, especially regarding parting.
For example, a 6x6 lace closure coverage can achieve a seriously sexy and deep side part—one that isn’t possible with a 4x4.
Think of a 6x6 as the bigger sister to the 4x4. We got love for both sizes. The cost of the larger closer is higher but you wont' need as many bundles for your install. That's a hidden benefit for sure!
Of course, because it’s larger, a 6x6 lace closure is a bit more challenging to install - especially if you’re a beginner. But with some practice, you can get the hang of it, girl - I promise!
What Size Lace Closure Do I Need?
Choosing which size lace closure you need depends on your wants and needs.
Consider a more oversized closure, such as a 6*6, if you want more styling and parting options. If you are looking for a deep part that goes all the way back then this is it.
Closures offer a natural hairline and this size closure will give you six inches which will look fabulous.
The only better option would be a 7x7 but we will talk about them in another blog post.
How Long Does a 6x6 Lace Closure Install Last?
When a 6x6 lace closure is sewn in, it can easily last anywhere from six to 12 weeks. How long your lace closure install lasts depends on how well you care for and maintain it.
To extend the longevity of your 6 by 6 lace closure install, it’s recommended to limit washing to once a week (or as needed) and use hairpiece-safe products.
Condition regularly, avoid heat, and wrap in a satin or silk bonnet while you sleep.
If you are using lace glue to apply the closure please use a lace glue remover and cleaner (available at Private Label) to get the most out of your lace product.
Is a 6x6 Lace Closure Glueless?
A 6x6 lace closure can be glueless.
However, you must choose another attachment method to ensure your unit remains in place and looks fabulous. You have several options if you plan to secure your 6x6 lace closure without a lace glue adhesive.
Many women prefer to sew their unit in place or have it professionally sewn in. You can also use other attachment methods, like clips and combs. It all depends on your preferences!
To hide the hairline we recommend starting with an HD Lace option. This will require less manipulation to match your scalp. Lace tint is alway an option as well.
Our goal is to have your lace closure not look like a lace closure. Right?
Is a Lace Frontal Better Than a 6x6 Lace Closure?
Well, baby girl, the answer to this question depends on what you want and need, as one unit isn’t “better” than the other.
Need help deciding?
Let me break it down for you:
- If you want a natural-looking hairline and almost unlimited styling options (including pulled-back looks like ponytails), consider a lace frontal, but know they’re more challenging to install and maintain.
- If you only want to cover a small section of your head while still enjoying a natural aesthetic and many styling capabilities, a 6x6 lace closure may be proper. They’re also much easier to install and maintain!
This is a tough decision and both options have their pros and cons. The popularity of frontals continues to grow but now that larger size closures are available it will be interesting to see what consumers choose to wear.
Is 2 Bundles and a 6x6 Lace Closure Enough?
Two human hair bundles and a 6x6 lace closure are typically enough for most women, especially if you’re going for moderate length and volume. However, you may need an extra bundle if you’re looking for the following:
Impressive Volume: Those who want their hair to have some va-va-voom volume will want to add an extra bundle (or two) to achieve the desired body-ody-ody.
Longer Lengths: Those wishing for super long locks may also want to add an extra bundle. Any hairstyle over 20" you would be best off with at least a third bundle. Possibly a fourth bundle if wearing lengths over 26" with a 6x6 closure.
Otherwise, the hair may appear spindly, unnatural, and unhealthy. Yikes!
How to Choose the Length of 6x6 Closure?
Again, the length you choose depends solely on the outcome you desire! For example, if you want long locks, opt for our 18-inch 6x6 lace closure rather than the 16-inch 6x6 lace closure.
Regardless of the length you choose, please match it with your bundles!
Otherwise, your lace closure will stick out like a sore thumb, creating an unnatural appearance. And that’s something we’re trying to avoid - proper, ladies!?
Is a 6x6 Lace Good?
A 6x6 lace closure isn’t good - it’s excellent!
Because the 6*6 lace closure is one of the most significant closures available (right behind the 7x7 lace closure), it provides lots of space for styling and parting—all while looking natural and gorgeous!
Of course, the larger unit will also require more time and effort to install, but plenty of women will agree it’s well worth it.
Do 6*6 Lace Closures Damage Hair?
As long as a 6x6 lace closure is installed correctly and maintained, there should be zero damage to your natural hair.
In fact, some could even argue that they benefit natural tresses by providing a natural barrier between them and the elements!
We highly recommend washing your hair before installing your closure and care for your scalp.
How Does a 6 by 6 Closure Look Like?
It’s all in the name, hun - six inches long and six inches wide. That said, the lace portion is precisely six inches by six inches in size.
This makes it look like a decent-sized “square” of hair that should fit nicely on your head.
Can You Pluck a 6x6 Lace Closure?
You can pluck a 6x6 lace closure if necessary.
Plucking will allow you to create a more natural appearance, which is always beneficial when sporting a hairpiece!
All lace closures at Private Label come pre-plucked so minimal plucking is necessary if at all. You know a girl loves those tweezers!
Can I Style My 6x6 HD Lace Closure?
When you purchase a 6x6 HD lace closure from Private Label, you can feel confident in your ability to style it however you’d like!
Because our products are made of 100% human hair, they can be dyed, bleached, curled, and straightened easily.
We recommend choosing a lace closure that matches your human hair bundles. Once your hairstyle is complete you can use heat to further alter the curl pattern of your hair.
